Hawaii Trip Log:

1/9 got to Honolulu at 7:30AM. Hotel didn't have room ready so we drove thru Waikiki, Diamond Head, Blow Hole then took a shower at Sandy Beach. Ahhh.
At Hanauma Bay, they just set up a $5 entry fee. rats. Then we get in the hotel and learn that the city council dropped the fee as of noon!
Hotel is Short walk to beach. great. got room, slept, ate at Beni Hana's.
Crowded, as expected. lots of concrete in Waikiki - it's Manhattan on the beach.

1/10 drove via the Pali and north end around to Wiamea, where we stayed at Backpackers (motel?).
It's a beach shack type of place - no phone, no A/C, but it's ON the beach and roomy. Room "A" is best.
It's called 3 tables beach because of the 3 rock formations that look like...

1/11 The waves are up to 5 or 6 ft now. later in the eve we hear predictions of the famous 25-30' waves. rats again. always leaving a day too soon.
check out a few beaches, visit Arizona memorial, shop a bunch at int'l marketplace, kill time at north waikiki beach.
then back to airport. kinda dirty. qantas lounge doesn't have free phone or rj11 for laptop download.
